Students chose which definition they wanted to portray and created some art. The studio was open for them--they could create a 2-D or 3-D artwork. Some tried their hand at wire, while others were dying to use clay again. There are some solutions that were the easy, most common solution, but there are some that go deeper and are full of meaning.
Our second theme in Art 1 was "Light". We talked about the different meanings of light. There is light that helps you to see. Light can be used in terms of weight. Light can refer to "good" in good vs. evil. Light can also represent some kind of heavenly or spiritual being. Students chose which definition they wanted to portray and created some art. They each chose a discarded book from a collection gathered from the library. From there, they each chose a theme and proceeded on. They were given a list of prompts to choose from the help them get the juices flowing. They have done some amazing work so far. |

The Living Painting ExperimentThe living painting is a 36"X40" canvas that the students are free to work on and add to as they have extra paint or are finished with their work. The work will continue to evolve as students add and cover.
